New Marin Restaurants, Bakeries, and Local Openings We’re Excited About

Word on the street is that there’s some seriously good stuff coming to Marin. Here’s what we’re most excited about.

Tartine Bakery

Tartine is opening in Strawberry Village this spring, and it already feels like it will slide straight into everyday life. This is one of our favorite spots in the city, soon to be in our own backyard. Bread runs that turn into lunch. Pastries you buy “for later” and eat in the car. Can’t wait for this.

Cholita Linda

Strawberry Village is clearly leaning into its food era because Cholita Linda is landing there too. Casual Latin street food that is craveable, unfussy, and somehow always the right answer. This is the spot you suggest when no one wants to decide, and everyone ends up happy.

Hidden Splendor Beer

San Rafael keeps showing up with substance. Hidden Splendor Beer is opening early 2026 from the founder of Magnolia Brewing, and the concept is refreshingly grown-up. Classic beer styles. Clean execution. A taproom designed for actual conversation, not just quick pours.

Super Duper Burger

In Corte Madera, Super Duper is taking over the former Amy’s Drive Thru location. This will be their third Marin outpost, opening in 2026, and it makes perfect sense. Good burgers. Easy energy. A reliable fallback that never feels lazy.

Tu Tap

Downtown San Anselmo has something special taking shape. Tu Tap is moving into the former Kientz Hall space at 625 San Anselmo Avenue, aiming for a March 2026 opening. Led by chef Justine Kelly, who spent 18 years at The Slanted Door, alongside Bill Upson of the Real Restaurants group, this is elevated Vietnamese and Asian fusion with a redesigned open kitchen and a rooftop bar looking straight at Mount Tam. It feels intentional, design-forward, and very much in step with where San Anselmo is heading.

Hilda’s Coffee Shop

Then there’s the news that hits on a deeper level. Hilda’s Coffee Shop is coming back. After more than sixty years as a San Anselmo staple, Hilda’s closed in late 2025 and is set to reopen in 2026 under new ownership from the team behind Creekside Pizza. The plan keeps the heart intact while sharpening the menu around breakfast, brunch, and burgers. This one matters because it’s about continuity, not reinvention for the sake of it.

Giorgio’s Pizzeria

Fourth Street in San Rafael continues to be the stretch to watch. Giorgio’s Pizzeria is expanding from San Francisco with a new location underway and an early 2026 opening planned. Thin-crust pizza, classic comfort, and the kind of place that keeps a night going longer than expected.

Piccino Sul Mare

Out on the Sausalito waterfront, Piccino Sul Mare is opening in 2026 from the team behind Piccino. Italian-inspired California cooking, house-made pastas, pizza, and views that make even a weekday meal feel like something you planned ahead for.

M.H. Bread and Butter

And last but definitely not lease, M.H. Bread and Butter is slated for the old Crepevine space on Fourth Street in San Rafael. Another bakery is always welcome, especially when it gives mornings a reason to stretch out a little longer.
