Where to Trick-or-Treat in Marin: The 2026 Rundown

If you're looking for the hot spots to trick or treat, here's the rundown. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so expect bigger crowds and an earlier start. Below are the streets locals go to, town by town, plus the public events worth putting on the calendar. Every street name links to Google Maps. Let’s have some Halloween fun!

Mill Valley

Sycamore Park. The main event. Sycamore, Walnut, and Locust Avenues around Sycamore Park are where Mill Valley ends up on Halloween night, and the houses decorate like it's a competition. Mill Valley Police will close the neighborhood streets to cars from 6 to 10 pm this Halloween, with officers on site, and may reopen them early once foot traffic slows. Use East Blithedale to get around it, park on a side street, and walk in.

Tam Valley. The lower-key option. Head to the Birdlands, the pocket of streets named for birds like Flamingo and Cardinal, for shorter walks between porches and smaller crowds.

Homestead Valley. Homestead Halloween runs 5 to 7 pm on the 31st around the Homestead Valley Community Center. Decorated houses, neighbors out on the porches, and full-size candy bars.

Alto Sutton. Locals also loop through Meadow Drive, Dorset Lane, Shell Road, and Lomita.

Sausalito

Caledonia Street. Sausalito's Halloween happens on Caledonia. The city's parade leaves the Johnson Street firehouse at 6 pm and ends at Trick or Treat Lane in Robin Sweeny Park, followed by a dog costume contest at Caledonia and Litho. The side streets off Caledonia keep going well after dark.

Tiburon

Bel Aire. The flat pocket behind The Cove Shopping Center. Houses sit close together and the front-lawn graveyards are elaborate.

Larkspur

Baltimore Park. Larkspur's go-to. Work Monte Vista Avenue, William Avenue, and Baltimore Avenue. The old cottages sit close together, so the blocks go fast.

Marin Country Mart. The daytime stop. The Mart's Halloween Spectacular starts at 11 am on the 31st, and the honor-system pumpkin patch out front runs through Halloween. Marin Country Mart

Ross and Kentfield

Shady Lane, Ross. One of the most charming, enchanting streets in Marin, and on Halloween it goes all in. Shady Lane closes to cars between Norwood and Fernhill from 5 to 9 pm, and neighbors decorate in full themes. Last year one house threw a Monster Mash dance party with a DJ for hundreds of trick-or-treaters. Parking is tight and plenty of streets have no sidewalks, so park near Ross Common and walk in on Norwood.

Kentfield Gardens. Kentfield Gardens goes nuts. Work Berens Drive, McAllister Avenue, and Lancaster Avenue.

San Anselmo and Fairfax

Downtown San Anselmo. The Goblins' BOOtacular is Friday, October 23 this year, a week before Halloween. Merchants and volunteers line San Anselmo Avenue handing out treats, and the whole downtown turns out in costume. A great warm-up before the big night. Details from the Town of San Anselmo.

Sleepy Hollow, San Anselmo. Festive, easy to navigate, and a lot calmer than Dominga. Sleepy Hollow Drive

Dominga and Napa Avenues, Fairfax. Start with the Fairfax Halloween Parade at 5 pm in front of the Fairfax Theater. It winds down Broadway to the Haunted Grove in Bolinas Park, then everyone heads to Dominga and Napa, which close to traffic. Dominga gets so many visitors that the town has collected candy donations for residents at Town Hall, 142 Bolinas Road. If you're coming in from out of town, drop a bag off.

San Rafael

Bamboo Terrace, Terra Linda. Near Terra Linda Park and Scotty's Market. The Eichlers on Bamboo Terrace turn into stage sets, with outdoor movie screens, projections, and one house famous for its Bates Motel sign. It causes actual traffic jams, so park a few blocks out.

Forbes Avenue, Sun Valley. Central Marin's yearly destination. Lots of candy and lots of decorations.

Gerstle Park. Compact and walkable. The old Victorians and Craftsmans do half the work.

Knight Drive Decorated end to end.

Novato

Pacheco Creek Drive. The street closes to cars and the decorations are next level. The adjacent streets are worth the walk too.

Devonshire Drive and Center Road. The west Novato pocket that goes all out.
